''Tenodera aridifolia'' is a species of praying mantis in the subfamily Mantinae of the family Mantidae. Common names include Japanese giant mantis, オオカマキリ ''oo-kamakiri'' ("large mantis") in Japan, or 왕사마귀 ''wang-samagwi'' ("king mantis") in Korea, but the subspecies ''Tenodera aridifolia angustipennis'' have different common names, including narrow-winged mantis, チョウセンカマキリ ''chousen-kamakiri'' ("Korean mantis") in Japan, or 참사마귀 ''cham-samagwi'' ("true mantis") or just plain 사마귀 ''samagwi'' ("mantis") in Korea (in Korean 사마귀 means praying mantis and ''Tenodera angustipennis''). About 200 nymphs will hatch out of a normal ootheca. ==Range== Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and Tsushima), Taiwan, China, Korea, Southeast Asia and the subspecies ''Tenodera aridifolia angustipennis'' has been introduced to the United States of America.〔http://mantodea.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?TaxonNameID=1760〕〔http://mantodea.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?TaxonNameID=1758〕〔http://mantodea.speciesfile.org/Common/specimen/ShowSpecimen.aspx?Router=NewPage〕
